NYDFS Cybersecurity Updates for 2026

NYDFS’ strengthened cybersecurity rules are now fully in effect as of November 1, 2025. Licensed entities must implement enterprise‑wide MFA, maintain a continuously updated asset inventory, and demonstrate stronger governance, oversight, and incident‑readiness. Regulators now expect full compliance, supported by documented evidence—not assumptions. These updates aim to improve prevention, detection, response, and resilience. Reminder: 2025 Certification of Material Compliance is due April 15, 2026. Be Cyber Safe!
